UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan congratulates UN Observer.org for supporting UN standards and principles

(San Francisco, February 13, 2004) - In a letter addressed to UN Observer.org Executive Director Bruno Schneider, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan today praised UN Observer.org for its work in promoting UN standards and principles.

“Let me congratulate you on your initiative in setting up UN Observer.org”, wrote Secretary-General Annan. “We appreciate your support for the standards and principles of the United Nations.”

This support comes at a time when UN Observer.org has embarked on a campaign to promote the use of socially and environmentally responsible investment practices by the $21 billion UN pension fund. “We are very encouraged and excited to be receiving the support of Secretary-General Annan,” said Bruno Schneider.

“We will continue to press on with our work, energized by the knowledge that our mission is supported by a great individual in the person of Nobel-peace laureate Kofi Annan”.
